Can you grow by replying to other people?

Every platform comparison judges how far your own post travels. There is a second way to grow that most of them ignore: replying to other people. It is the cheapest cold-start lever there is, it needs no audience to begin with, and only two platforms really have it. This is one section of a larger piece; the full comparison table puts all nine channels side by side.

The lever X and LinkedIn have that YouTube and Instagram do not: you can grow by replying to other people, not only by posting

Every platform above was judged on how far your own post travels. But there is a second way to grow that the comparison so far has ignored, and it changes the picture for X in particular: on some platforms you can grow by replying to other people, not only by posting your own content. This is the one genuine edge X and LinkedIn hold over the video platforms, and it is worth pulling out on its own:

Same colour coding as the other tables, and click any column header to sort (best first; click again to reverse).
